Etna Jeep Tour - Overview
Reach the summit craters on an offroad excursion on one of the most impressive volcanoes on the planet and make your holidays in Sicily memorable.
On board our special 4×4 UNIMOG vehicles, regularly authorized by the Etna Park Authority, you will be able to admire the craters formed by ancient eruptions and a landscape that becomes more and more fascinating as you get closer to the summit. Visiting Etna’s craters is a breathtaking experience.
Together with our alpine/volcanological guides you will arrive safely at the Observatory at the foot of the four majestic active craters of Etna from where you will be able to admire our volcano from a unique perspective.

The excursion always takes place in complete safety, it may undergo variations at the discretion of the guides, or it may be interrupted in the event of changes in environmental, climatic or volcanic conditions.
Schedule
Starting from Piano Provenzana, at an altitude of 1800 metres, we will walk along the panoramic path that goes up the northern side of Etna and which leads to the Volcanological Observatory located at an altitude of 2850 metres.
Once we reach the foot of the central craters, our guides will accompany us on a short and pleasant walk up to the Pizzi Deneri Belvedere.
From here you can enjoy an extraordinary panorama that extends from the majestic summit craters of Etna to the Ionian Sea, crossing the suggestive Valle del Bove and Valle del Leone (visibility may vary depending on meteorological or volcanic conditions).
After returning to the vehicles, we will head towards the craters formed during the 2002 eruption, where we will have the opportunity to walk along the edges of the craters themselves and closely observe the signs left by the eruption.
Finally, we will complete our trip by returning to Piano Provenzana on board our off-road vehicles.
- Appointment 30 minutes before departure at the Meeting Point in Piano Provenzana

NOTE
• Trekking doesn’t require great preparations on a physical level; it consists of a simple walk without extremely difficult walkways. Nevertheless you have to be prepared to walk on sandy volcanic soil and inconsistent lose ground.
• The excursion could be subjected to variations at the discretion of guides, or could be interrupted in case of changes of environmental, climatic or volcanic conditions that could undermine the safety of the entire group.
• The excursion will be carried out according to the limits laid down by the ordinance in force.
• The route is suitable also for children over 2 years old.
• The route consist of the ascent and the walking along the crater’s edges, this may cause dizziness to susceptible individuals.
• This type of itinerary is suited to people in good physical health, not suffering from particular diseases(cardio-vascular and breathing issues or hypertension).
• Pregnant women is not recommended to take part to any excursion.
• To ensure the success of the excursion and its smooth running, it is advisable to be fully aware of one’s health conditions and if necessary, to inform the guides, in order to reduce the occurrence of any problems and avoid any risks.
